  • Waterproof Flooring Types and Installation

Its no wonder that waterproof flooring is becoming one of the most requested flooring types to install. When installed properly, you won’t have to be concerned about splashes, pools or puddles of water damaging your floor.

There are a variety of styles and types of waterproof flooring options available today. We have some of the best waterproof flooring in the Westwood and Los Angeles areas, and we can help you decide which one to install in your home.

    Types of Waterproof Flooring

Thanks to technology, your waterproof flooring options go far beyond just solid colors. You can get waterproof flooring that looks like wood, stone, tile, and more. There are several different types of waterproof flooring that you can choose from, and each has their own unique benefits.

WPC Flooring— Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) flooring usually consists of polyvinyl materials, plasticizers, a foaming agent, and natural materials such as wood flour. WPC flooring gives you the look of natural wood but is water-resistant without having to add a secondary protective layer. The rigid core of WPC flooring makes it extremely durable and able to withstand warping and moisture damage.

SPC Flooring—Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) flooring is made up of a core that is usuallt comprised of around 60% calcium carbonate (limestone), polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers. This floor has a rigid core, like WPC, but its core is thinner. However, it is still naturally water-resistant and there is no need for a secondary or third waterproofing layer.

LVT Flooring—Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) has a vinyl composite layer and a realistic 3D-image can be printed on its surface. You can choose from countless patterns and styles with LVT. Like WPC and SPC flooring, LVT is resistant to dents, scratches, and water damage. If you ever dreamed of having hardwood floors in your bathroom without having to worry about them warping, then this floor is made for you and your home.

    Why Waterproof Flooring?

Waterproof composite flooring such as WPC, SPC, and LVT, has come a long way since they it was first introduced. You no longer need to worry unrealistic looking floors or walk off (when the top image wears away).

LVT flooring and the similar products have incredibly realistic looking images and come in almost any wood or stone design you can dream of. If you want a floor that will hold up to the elements, no matter where you install it, then this floor is a fantastic option and relatively affordable.
