We used a trowel to spread the adhesive evenly throughout the sub-floor prior to laying the floors down. The glue can not be exposed for to long or else it can dry. The blue tape is used to help hold the planks in place and prevent movement. As you can see, an advantage of selecting to go the engineered wood route, is that you can glue it straight onto the concrete slab. If my client would have selected a solid hardwood, then we would have to lay plywood first to be able to nail down the solid hardwood floor. The adhesive we used has a moisture barrier and sound reduction compound which can prevent the floors from swelling or buckling due to the concrete slab exceeding the moisture limit.
